Current Producer Search:

Precipitation Northwest is seeking additional people to join our event production team which includes "Mega" who is a returning producer from 2026. This is a commitment to a one-year event cycle beginning in October 2026 until the event is closed out in June 2027. An ideal candidate will be interested in learning from the production team in their first year and returning as a seasoned Producer for subsequent event years.

Once selected, SOAK Producers will recruit additional volunteer support on the leadership team. If you are interested in volunteering SOAK leadership outside of the Producer level, keep an eye on soakpdx.com later this fall.

Position Summary:

PNW delegates authority to Event Producers (Producers) to act as PNW agents to oversee and direct the operational aspects of SOAK Event Production. These Producers will work in collaboration with the PNW Board to create an event that advances PNW’s mission goals and is conducted in accordance with the terms of being a sanctioned Burning Man regional event, as well as best practices for safe event production of comparable special events. Producers function as the operational leadership team for SOAK, with responsibility for budgeting, permitting, vendor relationships, volunteer leadership, safety oversight, and event execution; as well as inspiring and directing volunteer department leadership and the overall volunteer team. This role is an opportunity to fill a critical leadership role in creating a memorable experience for thousands of participants while working alongside Burning Man artists, theme camps, in support of our wonderful and creative community.

This is an unpaid volunteer leadership position with expense reimbursement and event attendance benefits. Pre-event activities occur primarily indoors in an office setting, activies during the event may require significant walking, standing and exposure to outdoor conditions. Must haves:

  • Familiarity with Burning Man culture, and experience in a leadership capacity at SOAK, Burning Man or comparable festival events.

  • Excellent organization, communication, delegation and decision-making skills.

  • Integrity in keeping commitments.

  • Ability to manage and collaborate with diverse personalities.

  • A personal computer, internet access, and ability to be responsive across multiple electronic communication platforms.

  • Reliable personal transportation.

Nice to haves:

  • Event production experience.

  • Experience coordinating teams.

  • Experience working with local municipalities and county permitting processes.

  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Gmail and Slack and other communication tools.

  • Experience managing remote meetings including video conferencing.

Estimate time committments:

  • General event cycle administrative duties: approximately 10 hours per week.

  • 6 to 3 months prior to the event: approximately 15 hours per week.

  • 3 months to 2 weeks prior to the event: approximately 25 hours per week.

  • 2 weeks prior to the event: approximately 30 hours per week.

  • During event: participate in 24 hour on-call coverage. A producer or representative will be part of first/last onsite team.

  • 1 month after event: approximately 25 hours per week closing out event cycle. 

Expenses and Provisions: 

  • Event attendance provision equivalent to a SOAK lead. For example, in 2026 this was a no-cost same year ticket and camping vehicle pass, as well as a second at-cost ticket. 

  • Ability to purchase an additional 4 at-cost tickets for their personal support team. 

  • Reimbursement for event related personal expenses excluding travel mileage.

Interview process:
All applications will be reviewed by the Precipitation Northwest Recruitment Committee. Select applicants will be interviewed, with the final decision determined by Preciptiation Northwest with advisement from the Burning Man Regional Contacts and Returning SOAK Producers. All applicants will be advised when the application process is completed and position(s) have been filled.
